A Weekend of Exploration: Lübeck - the City of Gothic Facedes, Traditional German Christmas Markets and Unexpected Encounters
There we were: Lora, I, December, Hamburg and no snow on the horizon. And so our disappointment resulted into a spontaneous trip to Lübeck - a city far in Northern Germany, its old town - an island enclosed by the Trave river. The wind did not stop us to walk around and explore the city - beautiful medieval architecture and fairytalish Christmas markets. At one point of our walk it turned out that our drive back to Hamburg was suddenly cancelled - we had no other choice but to walk to the station and buy train tickets. For our surprise right then and there it started snowing like hell so we took it as a sign to go with the flow and spend the evening in Lübeck. We had wine with herbs on the Christmas market, ate pizza prepared by a quirky Brazilian guy and met an amusing group of old bowling friends at a Swedish/Danish drinks counter. Yet another wonderful trip and unexpected turn of events which brought us adventures, smiles and - thank you, Lübeck - snow! :)
